Comment on the Information Age and its wider implications.

These days it's easy to get onto the Web by starting a blog, or building a presence on one of the many social networking sites.

This short introduction to Web Design is aimed at the non-technical layman who wants to have just a little more control in how his/her message is presented in cyberspace - quickly and easily.

These pages have been designed specifically for the small businessman or perhaps the hobbyist who just wants to let more people know about what they do or think.

We're not going to get bogged down in the finer points of coding or scripting, there are already a zillion sites and books out there that do that and do it well, and from time to time we'll point you in their direction should you want to learn more.

What we are going to concentrate on is the basics. What makes an effective Web site? And how do you start to build one?

We'll also point you in the direction of (mainly free) sources of help, should you need them.

As more and more people gain access to the Internet and more and more use the World Wide Web as their primary source of information the opportunities to exploit this exciting new medium have never been greater. On the other hand, if you don't have a presence on the Web, how long will it be before your competitor does - if not already?
